Mystery Reader #5

This Lanesboro senior is known among many of the 2nd graders as their swimming teacher.  They had no problem guessing who this reader was today.  A big thank you to Matthew for bringing lots of enthusiasm to 2nd grade as he read "Creepy Carrots."

Mystery Reader #4

Based on this mom's clues, reading is a major part of her life!  She has loved to read ever since her long bus rides as a kid, has owned a library card in every state she has lived in, and has definitely passed on her enjoyment of reading to her 2nd grader.  Mrs. Mosdal joined us to read one of her favorites from her childhood, "No Roses for Harry!"

Mystery Reader # 3

"I'm on the basketball team.  I've been in this class.  I have 4 people in my family."  The students interpreted the clues to mean anyone that's ever played basketball, walked through our classroom, and has 4 people in their family.  The students were trying to guess any parents that had previously played basketball and have walked through our classroom!  Somehow they came up with Mr. Howard... they were so close... it just happened to be the younger Mr. Howard!  Thanks for stopping by Mason!  It was so fun to have you visit!

Mystery Reader #2

This auntie of one of our students stopped by on Friday to share some of her favorite Dr. Seuss books.  The class had a pretty good idea who would be joining us that day.  The details of her clues included her horses, her children, and that she is a paramedic.  Her nephew jumped out of his seat and guessed her immediately and was thrilled about this possibility.  Thanks so much for sharing your favorite stories with us!

Dragonfly Art Project

In the last few weeks we have been working on an art project that focused on the contrast between warm and cool colors.  This project also highlights perspective as the students are drawing a zoomed in view of a dragonfly on a flower.  The students had to choose to use warm or cool colors on the dragonfly and then the opposite colors on the flower.  They turned out so beautiful!

Mystery Reader #1

With 4th quarter beginning this last week, it was time to kick off our Mystery Readers.  We not only had the mother of one of our students, but also a little brother.  Our youngest Mystery Reader yet!  Thanks so much to these two for taking time out of your day to read to our class!
